Ontario Women’s Box Lacrosse 2020 season cancelled

2020 season cancelled
The Ontario Women’s Box Lacrosse League has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 playing season due to the continuing uncertainty relating to COVID-19.
Since the regular season was not scheduled to begin until the start of June the league had taken a cautiously optimistic approach, hoping that plans could be developed for a playing season that would be safe for all players, staff, volunteers and fans. Given that governments and municipalities are still restricting gatherings to small numbers, limiting non-essential travel and maintaining the closure of arenas it was the decision of the OWBLL to cancel the upcoming season and concentrate on plans for 2021.
The OWBLL did not make this decision lightly. We remain open to the possibilities for some casual, tournament style games, for teams and players who may be interested. We will continue to communicate with Ontario Lacrosse regarding updates to sanctioned play and will make sure that all teams are kept up to date.
